see i was gonna complain about how i keep seeing reviews of rage 2016 say they dont like the ending because of how 'overly emotional/melodramatic' it is and how i never really understood that cuz i actually quite liked the ending like i thought that all the characters. emotional breakdowns were fully Called For considering the circumstances then i realised. of the three characters we see just Losing It in the finale we have:
aiko, traumatised ex-sex worker
yuma, gay man
izumi, assault survivor
so. yknow. the fact that these people cant seem to be able to fully relate to these characters emotions/pain. hmmmm.
#怒り#this isnt necessarily me accusing these review writers of anything#its just... An Explanation that makes sense to me#yknow. as like a. afab queer person watching this movie and Fully Getting it#theres just a pretty….. logical conclusion to be arrived at here#like aiko thought she lost the only person in the world who would ever love her#yuma... basically did that? or at least he lost the only other person in the world he truly loved#after his mother#plus the guilt of knowing it's specifically like to some extent His Fault#izumi had her whole life destroyed by someone she genuinely trusted#like these are all very fully justified things to have an emotional breakdown over#why....?? do people think its 'too melodramatic' i don't get it man

yes i like fullmetal alchemist brotherhood a normal amount (<- lying) this post is going to be long so open the readmore at ur own risk
ok this is genuinely going to be a mess because im really terrible at summarizing things and organizing my thoughts so if ur actually gonna read through this then good luck!
here are just some short thoughts before the longer paragraphs
- i absolutely LOVE the note that plays right after the alchemists clap their hands together that indicates that theyre abt to use alchemy. the sound of the clap + the note that plays is incredibly satisfying
- the strong and well-written female characters in this show was a really good touch and i loved how they brought them (izumi and olivier) together at the end :') also their beefy husbands together was super nice too
- my favorite part of the story was actually the part where ed and al go to briggs because thats wher they introduced olivier. it was super nice to see her talk about how strong-willed she is and her army and all of that
- lan fan is another example of a strong female character but a little less favorable since she serves ling yao. that doesnt make her any less cool though she was super badass and i definitely cried over her more than once
- the details in this show was really nice. alphonse's body being malnourished was something that seemed really obvious, but the fact that when ed got his right arm back it was noticeably less muscular and had longer nails than his left was such a good detail
- in the last episode there was a scene where alphonse made a dumb face that was animated just like how ed's faces looked and that made me really happy that we finally get to see al emote just like his brother :')
- im pretty sure i cried through the entirety of the last episode because being able to see the characters laugh and smile without feeling burdoned by anything after youve seen them go through repeated heartache and physical pain for 63 episodes is a super nice feeling
- "i'm a terrible father but i want to make you two proud" .
- "i'll give you half of my life and you give me half of yours" UGH
- also right after this when ed was laughing at how flustered winry got because normally hes the one who gets flustered :') that was so sweet
- i literally guessed that it was morse code whenever they showed selim banging on al's head because its like why would they put so much emphasis on that and let it go on for like 10 seconds without any music over it. this happened like multiple times too and i guessed it before they made it incredibly obvious bye im the smartest guy alive
ok heres where i talk more besties lets go
fmab was absolutely worth watching 64 episodes. i was convinced that i probably wont finish it because i have trouble finishing 12 episodes but as it may be obvious i got super invested. fmab being this long allowed there to be enough time to explain aspects of the story separately and to watch them all come together at some point. it also allowed for a ton of details that even though they're small, they're still important to the story. they rehash a lot of points because it was a simple detail that could get lost through the story but when its rementioned and you recall the time, it's such a nice feeling to have that click in ur mind.
also the character development was really good and ill get more in-depth about characters later but the length of this anime also allowed for a ton of really good character development. it ties into the whole thing where you learn about a characters backstory and you don't understand why it's important to the show until later on and then you're like ohhhh holy shit that makes sense now! also all that time for character development also lets you get attached to more than just the main characters and makes you care more about the role they play in the story.
roy mustang. at first i liked him, but when he started to speak about how he wanted to become the fuhrer president before he knew the military was corrupt, i assumed that he would just become as corrupt as bradley was ("starting wars for no reason"). i was convinced for the longest time that he would eventually just turn out to be the second bad guy and that nearly came true whenever he was trying to kill envy but riza helped him :) i loved the entirety of their relationship they're so sweet and compliment eachother so well. the scene where roy demonstrates the sheer amount of trust he has in riza's abilities by blindly (heh. he was blind during this if u didnt know.) following her directions and hitting their target ... it was just so good. also even though i didnt trust roy i thought he was super badass the sound of him snapping was always super satisfying as well
i almost want to rewatch fmab because it would be really nice to pick up on things that were later referenced in the anime. because of how long it is, its super easy to forget about things that happened early on in the anime (especially for someone with memory issues lol) so being able to watch back with the second half of the show still fresh on my mind would be almost an entirely different experience. the first thing that comes to mind is whenever we were shown kimblee in prison super early on. i know he had dialogue but i remember nothing about it because i was focused on thinking "literally who the fuck is this guy lol" but now i know. wow.
edward elric. im aware that this is going to be incredibly biased but i literally do not care. anyways. character development is always important and needed within a story but i genuinely feel like ed's character development was interesting to watch. it was never super obvious and his core values never changed. he did somewhat have a change in attitude when he nearly died to kimblee, but thats like expected you know ... being that close to death and all. i think that event was essentially the beginning of the end of his naivety. he was always consistent with the people he cared about though :) he never stopped calling them stupid and weird and he never stopped threatening to punch hohenheim whenever he was frustrated even if they were like in the middle of like a life or death situation. i just think he's neat
when ed destroyed pride('s vessel) i felt my heart well up with. pride LOL. that was his very first explicit win against someone who has been against him this entire time, and seeing him defeat pride with his own two hands was such a nice feeling. it wasnt technically his own win since he was only able to get to that point because of his friends and family around him
episode 60 was suuper good it was the part where the father was gonna swallow god because of the solar eclipse. its super hard to explain if uve never seen it but basically the scene was super cool simply because of how well the animation showed the sheer scale of what was happening. like this guy was literally reaching to the moon. theres a lot of unnatural things that are shown in fmab and although this scene didnt introduce any new concepts, it was still incredibly captivating because of how well the animation was
aand thats it i think! i regret not writing down how i feel during the earlier episodes but i think watching it with little to no distractions was a better experience. if u actually read this im giving u a kiss on the cheek rn ilu
#i dont expect anyone to read this btw this is purely for myself#i hate proofreading shit so dont look at anything too closely

What are your character’s weaknesses and insecurities?
((I AM SO SORRY I NEED TO MAKE THE ABOUT PAGE SO THIS IS EASIER FOR EVERYONE BUT LEMME TELL YOU I GOT THEM ALL FLESHED OUT MOSTLY))
Daemin- He is an adopted son of Izumi Hina and Izumi Gamel (Yes from OOO’s) so he has super strength but he is not their biological son even though he has the same powers. Unbeknownst to him at first; Daemin’s biological parents were poor and had no choice in the past but to give up one of their sons for adoption. So they gave up Shae, his older brother of 4 years. The split hurt them but Daemin was too young at the time to fully understand what was happening. Skip about a year and their house is attacked and both of Daemin’s parents are killed but miraculously; Daemin is unharmed. He would be about 3 to almost 4 years old by this point. He is brought to an orphanage, and it turns out it is the same one as Shae’s so they are reunited!
That was a little tidbit of Shae and Daemin but Daemin’s weakness? Being the cause of harm or injury, mishap, or emotional distress to another person. His super strength is still hard for him to control and he needs to be careful with his brother, family, and his team when he eventually becomes a sentai hero and joins his group. Also if you really wanna go there. (The cause of his parent’s death was because of Daemin’s super powers and ((someone’s)) desire to seek it and harvest, destroy, claim it, resulting in their early death. Who it was is currently unknown))
I’ll be simpler for the rest sorry for long elaborate response and sudden bio.
Shae- He is physically not super strong out of his whole family besides his baby sister so he hates being weak when he is the older brother. He is socially awkward and introverted so a lot of attention, crowds, people insulting him, making him feel weak and inferior and not being able to protect Daemin even when he is super strong really does bother him. He also has a handful of friends, and his best friend, Jun, who is super smart, and he feels inferior to that too deep down. He’s just (Nothing) compared to everyone around him
Merry- She is born from a Greeed turned human mother and a human so she has water powers and an innate ability to swim and it’s not normal. She looks human but can’t act fully human and that bothers her. She’s not a monster but she knows others wouldn’t think the same..after all is a Mermaid normal?
Orion- Leo and Minoru are his parents and they are both from Zyuden Sentai Neo Kyoryuger team, aka super dinosaur hero’s and that is a lot to live up to. He feels insecure because he has these abilities that he didn’t earn and Orion thinks he should have worked for them, not just have them because he inherited them. This REALLY bothers him a lot, and if its mentioned it hurts because he wants to not live in his parent’s shadows even if he loves them to death and they love him right back. He has his own great traits he cannot see because of this and his weirdness at having his father’s quirky habits like not sitting in a chair and eating literally anything with no preference is slim to nothing compared to his self doubt on if he is actually cut out to be a hero or not because he earned nothing from the start; he just had it and its not a talent, its a given “upper hand” compared to those who struggle and fight to be strong everyday and suffer because of it. He never had to struggle and he honestly feels bad. This never comes up because he has never voiced any of this out loud.
Minoru- Mother of Orion and an early generation Zyuden Sentai Neo Kyoryuger, Kyoryu Teal. She has had a tough life before she became a hero. Minoru is eccentric and has abilities to talk to animals, and she can heal. She is precocious and talks to herself, spends all her day outside, and was always a little clairvoyant almost. It is not completely clear where this came from or what her initial ability was but she seemed to grow more fond of what she could do as she got older. Her parents were strict business workers and socialites, basically trying to love her as much as possible until she didn’t fit to their image and standards.
Minoru ran away before she became a legal adult. No one went looking for her. The rest is history…at least from what she knows. She is not one to look back at her choices and she had a huge loving team, however, deep down, there is a feeling of failure at being a right kind of person, a “lady”, a “good daughter” not necessarily normal. But acceptable. She is not an acceptable person in her family’s eyes and what she does know even to this day is..No one came looking for her.
Henry- Gigabyte Red. He is the tsundere, grumpy, serious, no nonsense (except rare times he cracks a joke or deadpans a sassy response which is actually a lot) and he has a lot of genuine care for his team but you gotta dig for it. You gotta earn trust and get close and you gotta except his flaws which are really apparent. He is unapproachable at times though he is the leader. He has a strong sense of getting things done quickly and efficiently and no matter what which sometimes leads him to be reckless and focus on one task in front of him, fogging him from seeing more than one obstacle. (Multiple attacks, focuses on main bad, might get swamped by the multiple lacky creatures or not see his teammate being attacked in response to his focus)
Henry has two weaknesses but one is a lot more…dire than the other. One is opening up. He is one of the rangers that still has his parents lost in hyper space and a known, alive, big sister that he loves very much. He is trying to save everyone and get to his family and make sure they are safe and won’t be in danger again so his only concern is END GOAL which makes him harder to open up to doing other missions, helping other people, or listening to his team when they want or need to address another concern. He is hardheaded and hardhearted but he wants to save everyone and that is why he is so strict with himself and his own emotions; he cannot afford to get distracted. He doesn’t have time.
The dire weakness. Silence. Due to what happened to him in the past; Henry cannot be in a state of silence EVER in his life. There MUST be sound available around him at all times. This is crucial. His power is speed so he zooms around and attacks fast and he is always around other people despite his inept ability to open up to them. (he is tsundere as hell and needs people please help him) If he is in a state or an environment or situation that has no sound. Just silence. He will go into a steady and fast break down. His body freezes. He feels cold. Chilled to the bone. His breathing slows, eyes blur, and then he feels like his head is being torn open and the buzzing in his head is the only “sound” but then that goes silent and he chokes on air, ripping at his hair, his knees give out and he sits like that prone until he loses consciousness. That is why he always needs sound. It’s a traumatic effect to what happened in his past and with his family, so he always has music or static on a tv when he sleeps, headphones in if he is in a room reading, or around people talking. No one is aware of this as of yet.
Kris- He is the oldest of the Rainbow Blue Express line and currently his only known weakness is failing at protecting his team, and being the oldest his insecurity is failing in general. Not being strong, not being worthy of the team, or doing something that proves that he doesn’t deserve them.
Aileen is still being fleshed out but if you want her weakness. She is a warrior goddess and she has siblings and Nari. They are her weakness. Her sisters and her Nari. She is not a killer, she is a healer but she would do anything for them. Also she is Asexual and even the thought of men touching her disgusts her and makes her shudder even if she is a very strong woman. Do not touch her without her permission but if she is unable to avoid physical contact and cannot use her powers to stop them, if she is in a vulnerable situation at all really then she would feel weak. Her insecurity is based around being powerless and failing her sisters.
((THERE YA GO. SORRY IT IS A LONG INFO DUMP OF STUFF AND ALL I HAVE SO FAR.I am still fleshing Kris and Aileen out for now but i hope this all helped!!
#long info post#this is for anyone who wants to know more about my characters#sorry it took so long#my muses all have weaknesses and insecurities so here you go#will write an about page and add this info later so it is easier to access#thanks for the question!!#anonask
